CGA’s curriculum is based on the idea of “Know Yourself, Lead Yourself, Lead Others.” This essentially boils down to there is no way to lead someone else through something unless you, yourself have been through that. It is so incredibly important to be able to understand your innermost being and personality in order to be able to guide yourself through many of life’s trials.

The first part of CGA, we learned about “Knowing Yourself.” This has been focused a lot on who my identity is in Christ and how the place I grew up and the events that happened have shaped me. I have learned about “Father Heart” and how I am first and foremost a daughter of the King (fun fact: this is what the name Regan means along with regal, royal, nobility, and queenly). I have learned that my culture, background, upbringing, education, and society have all influenced the way that I view the world. I have also learned that humans have an innate desire for intimate connection through vulnerability. And vulnerability is hard. Hard to the point that most people choose not to be vulnerable because of the many walls that they have put up for protection. I have also learned about stewardship through emotional, mental, and physical health. God gave me the body that I have as a loan that I won’t need in heaven. But I have to treat it well.

This first section of CGA has been full of identifying the walls that I have been using as a protection system and slowly taking them apart brick by brick. This season has been hard, challenging, and demanding. However, I have also learned so much, felt more free, and stepped into the love of the Father more than I ever have.

One of the assignments that I have had while at CGA was to creatively design a self portrait. That was all the guidelines, and as someone that thrives on guidelines, I was nervous. I also had to present this self portrait to the class in three to five minutes. It was a nerve-wracking assignment for sure, especially because it was going to turn out to be a vulnerable situation. However, I want to share that presentation with you all. I want you to see a little bit into the classroom at CGA, and into my heart. The video below is my presentation along with some of the feedback that my classmates and teachers gave. Please give me feedback on the presentation if you want to! I would honestly love to hear your thoughts!

If you also want to read some of the books that I have been reading in class, here is a list:

  1. Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship by Jack Frost
  2. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter Scazzero
  3. Daring Greatly by Brené Brown
  4. A Tale of Three Kings by Gene Edwards (currently reading with the lens of leadership)

For the month of March, I have partnered with Go Rings. Go Rings was originally created as a way to fundraise for an 11-month mission trip to 11 countries (The World Race). The venture was funded quickly, but the rings just kept selling! The product & purpose proved to be contagious and, ended up accidentally starting a business. Go Rings provides an actual solution to one of the biggest problems every charitable cause faces: fundraising. That’s why up to 30% of all purchases goes to individuals & organizations who partner with them monthly, raising money to go do good. They are committed to creating handcrafted, ethically-made jewelry, while equipping those who are going out and spreading some light across our world.

Head to gorings.com and use code REGANROUND2 at checkout to help me stay at CGA! All of their jewelry is delicate, cute, and last forever. I wear a ring every day that has traveled around the world with me and still looks incredible. Trust me this is the only jewelry I wear on a consistent basis!

As always, I invite you to make my journey, your journey. Here are three simple ways:

  1. The most important, PRAY.
  2. Donate. (If you would like to donate, click the orange “Donate!” button in the top right-hand corner or reach out to me for more information!)
  3. Subscribe. (If you want to subscribe to my blog and stay up to date on what God is doing in my life, click the orange “Subscribe for Updates” in the left-hand corner.)

I am currently $385 from my next fundraising deadline, March 30th, and $2,335 from being fully funded! If you would like to partner with me to meet my deadlines, I would love to talk with you about the journey that God has called me to and the importance of CGA on this journey!
